Our goal is to educate you so you are prepared during the repair process. While pandemic-era supply chain issues have mostly resolved themselves, we are seeing industry-wide shifts in repair times. Because of changes in the car insurance industry, repairs may take 2-3 times longer than in the past.
Some parts may come in quickly and others take two months. Occasionally, the insurance company sources used or aftermarket parts, and they arrive broken or damaged or do not fit. When that happens, we request a replacement part from your vehicle manufacturer. Additionally, after disassembling your vehicle, we may discover additional repairs or parts are needed, triggering a new round of insurance company approvals and ordering parts. Even for a relatively small repair, sourcing one part can take time.
We always do our best to keep you in your vehicle, or get you back in your vehicle, as quickly and safely as possible. In a couple of cases, we have worked with the insurance company to reassemble the vehicle to put the customer back in their vehicle because parts may take 90-120 days to arrive. This can only be done if the vehicle is safe to drive.
If a vehicle is safe to drive, we will order the parts we know are needed from an external visual estimate before scheduling your vehicle for repairs.
Remember: Drivable does not equal safe to drive. A mistake one of our customers made was driving for a couple of weeks after an accident, despite a transmission leak from the accident. See us or a professional mechanic before you drive your vehicle following an accident.
What can you do? We recommend increasing your rental car coverage to 30 days, or longer if possible and make sure the dollar amount for rental per day works for your needs. Your Insurance Agent can guide you to the best coverage for your needs.
We are grateful for your patience. You can trust that we will get you back in your vehicle as soon as we can.
Thank you for understanding and your continued support,
The Runway Auto Team
